Thirteen years ago, in March 2009, an idea, born many, many years before in a Youth Hostel
on the Coromandel Peninsula in beautiful New Zealand, turned into an organization.
Initially named Parental Pals, it eventually became GlobalNatives.Org

There were twelve of us, young backpackers from four continents with little money, driven by powerful wanderlust.
Ten of us came from families who never had the financial means to give their kids the opportunities they longed for.
Family holidays or a school year abroad - not a chance. And as we talked, on the porch of this hostel on a wonderful
warm evening, we realized: There must be millions and millions of families like ours out there.

What if they could pool their resources?

Today, after thirteen years of inspiring and insightful work with parents and kids from all over the world,
we are delighted and happy, proud and immensely grateful to celebrate our birthday.
We've experimented with ideas, set the ground for resourceful tribes, invented truly unorthodox grant
schemes, opened the doors to the world for so many curious and enterprising young minds and let their
parents catch up with their own ambitions.
We took our grandparents on board with a vengeance, promoted new global citizenship with true passion,
helped teenagers from all walks of life to find their element (yes, the Bad Students Society is our pride and
joy!) and turned kids into avid language learners.
Very dear to our hearts are the "Young Global Superpowers".
They will be the minds behind tomorrow's politics, education and business. Their idealism has its stronghold
in experienced mentors, they know that activism initiates new thinking and politics can implement it.
They really have superpowers: Each other.
It is our passionate belief that nationalism will not fix one single problem that the world faces today.
Being for or against globalization makes about as much sense as being for or against the weather. None.
However, it makes a lot of sense to think about new ways to deal with it.
It makes sense not to be a bystander, not to merely let things happen.
As Global Natives, we give our kids every chance to become confident players in this global world they will live in.
