A Study of Underachievement
Starting September 1st, 2024, and designed to run for three years, we're about to conduct an in-depth study.
With the help of three talented post-docs, we've decided to take a scientific approach to the challenges we have
dealt with over the last 15 years in The Bad Students Society.

We know that the overwhelming majority of underachievers are not stupid.
In fact, they have lots of talents and abilities. But they also have a problem. Our experience shows that there is help. For at least 95% of them. The study wants to pool everything we have learned so far, and everything there is accessible in academic evidence. It wants to dive deeper into anecdotal experience and tap into the scientific knowledge of all continents. All of this in order to find out:
How can we do better when we want to help youngsters who struggle,
and teenagers who have a hard time finding their own way? What could be a best-practice approach to make the penny drop? How can we pass this knowledge on to others? And how can we eliminate the stigma of underachievement? The big outing of ex-underachievers |
In preparation for this project, we invited the community's parents and grandparents to declare themselves.
We asked: If you know what it's like from personal experience, would you be prepared to let the world know?
Here's what we got: An avalanche of outings!

This shows clearly: If you're on your own, you will want to simply forget about the struggles of your teenage years.
They're embarrassing. But once you realize you are in good and plentiful company ... well, let's stand by your past.
