We keep count ever since our members count on us.
We aim to update our stats regularly, however: as the verification process of new members is done personally, there is no automated process of renewing these facts and figures.
The percentages to the right show the native tongues of the largest language groups. 86% of our members have a very good command of English, they're either native speakers or speak English well enough to communicate with ease. 14% make frequent use of a dictionary but are keen to improve.
Some 580.000 families have successfully made connections ever since we first went online in early 2009. 400.000 of them are active members of our community today. We've experienced our most remarkable growth rates in the summer of 2016, peaking right after the Brexit referendum and again just after the US elections.
A word regarding membership numbers: we are aiming to reach genuine locals as much as expats. So far the statistics are somewhat misguiding since we still have a long way to go towards this balance; a good example are the United Arab Emirates with a current total of 2444 members, 2299 of them are expats.
Similar the situation in China, India or Brazil, so we particularly appreciate your help and advice on how we might connect better with the true locals too. Thanks in advance for your valued input !
