Louanne grew up in New York. As a true kid of the Bronx and as the eldest of five children, she did not have the chance to obtain the level of education she was longing for. She knew she had a good ear for languages, and she adored everything to do with music, with the Alps and even more so with Switzerland. The “Sound of music” was her favourite movie, and she knew the story and the songs of “Heidi” inside out, too.
After a childhood that did not leave her with too many illusions about life her luck changed when she was discovered by an indy label producer of soul and R & B music.
Her great voice now gave her financial independence and when she and her partner became parents of two healthy children she was a very happy woman and thankful for her good fortune. |
When she was in hospital once a doctor told her about GlobalNatives.Org because she had mentioned her faible for Heidi and “Edelweiss” in conversation. She joined and soon found kindred spirits in Switzerland who had been looking for suitable contacts in New York. She's visited Lucerne, the breathtaking home town of her partner family, once a year ever since.
The Freytags have two teenage girls to match Louanne's kids in age. Meanwhile the two Swiss girls know New York’s subway system as well as they speak the local jargon (a little to the chagrin of their English teachers at school).
Both families appreciate how much the various differences between them benefit them all. |
