Global citizenship used to be considered elitist, a privilege. A privilege that was exclusive to the wealthy, the highly educated, the well-connected.
Today, global citizenship is a state of mind.
It is a mindset, a tool and a purpose. Open to everyone. It will determine our children's and grandchildren's future. It stands for the bigger picture, for feeling one with the planet and mankind.
In practical terms, new global citizenship means hands-on leverage to change things. Here's why it matters: The 21st century needs all the smart and open minds it can get. That is: The kids from all backgrounds. From all walks of life.
New global citizenship says: Our concerns are global. Climate and environment, energy and mobility, food and health, media and politics, science and research, democracy and the future of society - they all are global issues. Nationalists will not solve them.
