Dave was born in Liverpool, UK, in the mid sixties.
Before he started school his parents moved to Canada. In Quebec, where he still lives today, he had to come to terms with the fact that there are many ways to speak English and that he should be learning French too, the sooner the better. What made him rather unhappy at first soon turned into something that gave him a lot of satisfaction - her realized he had a remarkable talent for picking up languages and local dialects. After college, Dave started to work for a bank. As he was ambitious and willing to learn, this left him with little spare time for his great passion: he had always longed to be a painter. |
But then his employers sent him to France for one year.
His time had finally come. In Paris he quickly signed up for painting lessons. His tutor was a very well known artist and he introduced him to Carole, a cheerful girl from Normandy with just as much artistic talent as good humour. Within three months the two were a happy couple and when they had gone back to Quebec they set up a studio together. Today two of their three children paint too and some of their pictures have already contributed to the family income. |
Today, two other families - one in Paris and one in Florence - are their famillage at The Global Natives Club and their friendship has opened
up many ways of developing their artistic skills further. They visit each other frequently to attend summer schools and painting seminars in Italy, France and Canada. They even went to Liverpool together once (for a concert and for a little nostalgia)! Dave and Carole could not imagine their lives without art, without travel, and without these highly rewarding international friendships. |
